THORChain (RUNE) is a decentralized cross-chain liquidity protocol that allows users to easily exchange cryptocurrency assets across multiple networks without losing custody of their assets in the process. The token of the THORChain platform is RUNE. The RUNE token is used as the base currency of the THORChain ecosystem and is also used for the security governance of the platform.
With THORChain, users simply swap one asset for another in a permissionless setting, without having to rely on order books for liquidity and market prices are maintained through the ratio of assets in the pool. In addition, THORChain combines various technologies, such as on-way state peg, state machine, BiFröst signer module, and TSS protocol to facilitate seamless asset exchange.
