Stellar is a decentralized computer network that operates using blockchain technology. This network issues a crypto asset called XLM with the aim of completing transactions on the Stellar network. Stellar and XLM were created in 2015, with the idea of creating a crypto asset that could reduce transaction costs and act as a bridge between fiat, digital, or other currencies . The Stellar network was first launched in 2015 by Jed McCaleb, David Mazières, and Joyce Kim. McCaleb was previously one of the founders of Mt. Gox. He is also one of the founders of the famous crypto company, Ripple.
